TO MY HUSBAND ON YOUR BIRTHDAY...

Today is my hubby's birthday and he is at work. I am too, before nko!
But you know what? That’s not going to stop me from wishing him a very happy birthday. In fact, it’s prompted me to write a letter to him and oga I do hope you find time out of your busy schedule to read this letter. I’ll write it here, because the rest of the world deserves to know how awesome you are.

 Dear hubby,
Today is your birthday! Do you feel old yet? No? Good, because you’re not allowed to get old yet. We haven’t had kids, so you have to stay young and active and funny and silly until you’re at least 40…no, 50...no, 80. Whatever. This is your first birthday we are celebrating as a married couple and I intend to make it count.
Your last birthday was fun too but *jeeeez* I cooked all day and almost forgot to pick up your cake but eventually it all turned out so nice. Your friends came around, we talked and laughed till late at night and I remember them commending me for my culinary skills yup! I am a very good cook and its one of the reasons why you married me remember? The fried rice was so delicious that some people wanted take away (I no mention anybody name oh ehen ehen). Anyways as I was saying my head was now just swelling like garri soaked in water. I finally got to crash around 1:00am what a dutiful fiancee I was *whew*
Olayiwola, you are an incredible person. You’re unbelievably smart, uproariously funny, and an amazing  husband, friend and brother. Everyone loves you, even if they have to get used to your little quirks (like when you fart in the presence of Ayomide and she shouts anty Yinka, uncle Layi just keeps farting again and again. Shameless uncle). You have such a happy, upbeat personality, it makes everyone around you smile. You’re optimistic about life, no matter what it throws at you.
I love every day I get to spend with you. Even if you’re glued to the TV watching football or playing PS4. To think I was happy when Champions League ended only for world cup to start almost immediately mtcheeeeew.

My folks say we have a weird/childish relationship and that we still behave like boyfriend & girlfriend but I know what you enjoy and I like letting you enjoy it. Goodness knows when we have kids you won’t get to spend all day playing games or watching football because I won't do the babysitting all alone and you know I mean that right? At least for a couple of years, then when they’re older you can dig out the PS6 because I'm pretty sure they must have upgraded and you will get to teach them the finer points of soccer.
Being married to you is the best thing in my life. You’re my best friend. You make me want to be a better person, you give me peace, joy and you try your absolute hardest to make me happy, even when I’m being stubborn and pouty and difficult… which is often. Ha! Wonder how you cope with me sometimes.

I love the way you’re excited about our future together, about one day having kids, about buying a house, about buying me my PASSAT and you your LR3 and having everyone we know over at once for a huge crazy party, gosh I'll be so happy to host our family and friends and I can't wait for that day.
So once again, I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

and I wish that all we have planned and prayed for comes true. Most of all, I wish you long life and prosperity in good health and a world full of smiles and sweet surprises.

Love always,
Olayinka Layi-Adeite
